Welcome in the world of dry flower floral art

Solstice Reflections: A Mid-Year Pause

Originally shared in my newsletter on 21.06.2025

At this turning point of the year, I’ve been taking a deep breath and letting the summer sun warm my reflections. From launching two dried flower collections to sharing weekends with many of you at markets, it’s been a season of incredible growth.

What’s Bloomed So Far

In the first half of the year, I learned so much — about flowers, yes, but also about communication and connection. Meeting many of you at markets or online has been a true gift. I’ve felt such warmth and curiosity from this community of nature lovers and creative spirits.

Beyond flowers, I’ve been reconnecting with nature in a deeper way. Taking my breakfast outside, observing the garden without the urge to weed or plant — it opened a new door. This year, insects became my teachers. Their delicate routines, their tireless work — I began to see the garden through their eyes.

What’s Coming Next

Looking ahead, I’m shifting gears. With less pressure to dry flowers, I want to explore working with fresh blooms and new floral binding techniques. But there’s something else, too: seeds.

I’ve started saving seeds from my garden — building a tiny seed library. My goal is to carry these pieces of this Dutch soil with me to France, ready to sow new beginnings. Flowers for beauty, for joy, but also for pollinators — especially native species that support our local insects year-round.

Solstice Ritual

✨ Light a candle and reflect on the last six months
✨ Write down one thing you’re ready to let go of, and one thing you want to grow
✨ Spend ten minutes watching the pollinators in your garden or a nearby park
✨ Celebrate the summer solstice with me: take a deep breath in nature, pick some long grasses from the berm and thread them into a grass crown. Add flowers (optional) as you weave to bring in colour and intention.

Thank you for being part of this blooming journey. These tiny interactions — online or in person — have kept me grounded and inspired. I hope this solstice gives you a gentle moment to pause, reconnect, and feel what’s growing inside you too.
Warm wishes,
Elena 🌸
